We will also take in to consideration any potential ‘wind loading’ which may adversely effect the operation of the gates, putting excessive strain on the piers and posts. In conclusion, we may recommend rebuilding stone or brick piers with suitable steel reinforcement, or installing new steel or timber posts between or behind your existing piers.

Timber posts are subject to warping and twisting when your gates are automated, so we would always recommend steel posts.  Please rest assured that steel posts can be clad with matching timber for the purposes of aesthetic appeal.

We will check all the other external factors including:

The working clearances between gate leaves
The strength and condition of your existing gate
The hinges And mounting brackets.
